Enter your guest count and table size to get the full rental list: guest tables, seats, chairs with spares, tablecloths in the right size, napkins and runners.

Quick answer: 100 guests at 60-inch rounds (8 per table) with a head table of 10 need 12 guest tables, 105 chairs, 15 tablecloths (120-inch round for a floor-length drop) and 150 napkins. Then assign everyone a seat with the Seating Chart Planner.

Where these numbers come from

Seats per table are the comfortable figures rental planners use: 5 at a 48-inch round, 8 at a 60-inch, 10 at a 72-inch, 6 at a 6 ft rectangle and 8 at an 8 ft. You can squeeze one or two more per table, but elbows, place settings and centrepieces all compete for the same space. Cloth sizes are table width plus twice a 30-inch drop, which reaches the floor on a standard-height table: a 60-inch round takes a 120-inch cloth, a 72-inch a 132-inch. Napkins run at 1.5 per guest — one at each place setting, plus a share for drinks, drops and the inevitable spills. Spare chairs at 5% cover late additions and the seat someone always moves.

Do not forget the non-guest tables: cake, gifts and cards, guest book, DJ and bar stations typically add 4-6 more tables (and cloths) beyond the guest count above.

Frequently asked questions

How many tables do I need for 100 guests?

Thirteen 60-inch rounds seat 100 guests with no head table (8 per table, rounded up). With a head table seating 10, you need 12 guest tables — 96 seats — plus the head table, which is the setup this calculator uses as its default.

What size tablecloth fits a 60-inch round table?

A 120-inch round cloth gives a floor-length drop on a standard 30-inch-high table (60 inches across, plus 30 inches of drop each side). A 108-inch cloth gives a three-quarter drop and a 90-inch cloth a half drop.

How many napkins do I need for a wedding?

Plan 1.5 per guest: one per place setting, plus extras for the bar, spills and drops. For 100 guests that is 150 napkins, which matches what linen rental guides recommend for plated service.

How many chairs should I order?

Your guest count plus about 5% spares — 105 chairs for 100 guests. If the ceremony is in a different space and chairs cannot be moved during cocktail hour, order a second full set.

How many people fit at an 8 ft rectangular table?

Eight comfortably — three per side plus one at each end — or six if you seat only the sides for a family-style meal with large sharing platters.

Estimate only. Table capacities and linen sizes vary slightly between rental companies, and venues often include some tables, chairs and linens. Confirm what your venue provides before ordering, and check table heights if you are mixing table types.
